Aikido translates as The Way of Harmony. Aikido is a relatively new art that grew out of the combat disciplines of the Samurai. Unlike other Martial Arts, Aikido is not developed to win over an opponent, but rather to neutralize an opponents power. This makes it possible for you to resolve conflict in a peaceful way. In Aikido, mental / psychological / and emotional energy (KI) is at the core of the art. It teaches you mind-body coordination and harmony with others. Aikido provides an excellent opportunity for physical exercise and effective self-defense. The Aikido at the Sei Shin Kan is of the Yoshinkai style, registered in Japan at the Aikido Yoshinkan World H.Q. with the International Yoshinkai Aikido Federation (I.Y.A.F.).
